Room #1
“My wife (Janice) myself and two Australian friends recently (September 2018) had the privilege and pleasure of staying for two nights at Blervie House in Rafford, Forres. It is a magnificent country house in beautiful countryside which has been completely renovated and refurbished to an exceptional standard by the owners Graham and Sheena Thompson. It stands today as one of the finest jewels in Scotland’s tourism crown. It exudes quality, warmth and charm without being in any way formal. The bedrooms on the second floor are all large and individualistic and the room Janice and myself stayed in came with a fabulously equipped bathroom with shower and bath even bigger than the bedroom! On the ground floor there is a communal breakfast table (Although not compulsory to eat there) which was an additional and special hallmark of our stay where guests openly share and discuss their views on all manner of subjects but always in an extremely friendly basis. The breakfast is a full Scottish one (although most of us showed admirable constraint by choosing only a few items!!)In keeping with everything about Blervie the food was fabulous. There are also several communal rooms on the ground floor including a well-stocked library, a magnificent billiards room and a large TV room. The grounds are particularly special with lots of specimen trees, red squirrels, roe deer and two resident peacocks who are curious but very friendly. Evening meals are not served except with advance notification, but the area has many restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets. (The owners are very helpful in matching your needs with appropriate advice and assistance). Also close to Blervie are numerous must see tourism attractions for example: • Culloden • Cawdor Castle • Fort George • Johnstons of Elgin • Numerous Malt Whisky Distilleries. Plus the Moray Firth (home to Dolphins, Porpoises and Seals) is very close and easily accessible. Finally the area is home to some of Scotland’s most famous golf courses Nairn, Nairn Dunbar, Castle Stuart, Moray and numerous smaller and less demanding courses.”

What a pleasure it was to stay at Blervie House whilst on a golf trip in Scotland Graham and Sheena Thompson could not have been more welcoming and even offered to drive us to a local restaurant and pick us up afterwards. The house has been completely refurbished and is most comfortable. Can not recommend it highly enough

Blervie House is stunning both inside and out and that coupled with the lovely warm welcome Graham and Sheena give you just adds to its charm. It is the little touches that make a place and Blervie has those. Will definitely be back!

Staying at Blervie for a long weekend was a lovely experience. Surrounded by the beautiful Morayshire countryside, we had lots to do and staying at Blervie was a huge treat. The house is really beautiful - grand but incredibly comfortable. Our room with en-suite was large, airy (but warm!) and luxurious. Graham and Sheena were friendly and accommodating hosts, offering us advice on places to visit and where we could walk our dogs. We had a great weekend at Blervie, I hope we can go back very soon!
